"The Mineral Springs Capital of Australia"

"Lake Daylesford"

Daylesford is 110 km North West from Melbourne on the Midland Highway

Population: 3,000

Combined with its twin town, Hepburn Springs, the area boasts approx 72 mineral springs

Daylesford sits high on the Great Dividing Range, surrounded by the Wombat State Forest

The area  was settled in the late 1800's by mainly  Swiss - Italian settlers

These early settlers worked the forests, farmed the land and dug for gold

Daylesford houses  numerous  old buildings from the 1800's

Many of these buildings are of very fine architecture which are immaculately kept

Old mining huts and farm cottages are still standing  - some restored, others weather beaten and dilapidated
